There is something about belief, that particular stubbornness everyone chasing a dream seems to carry, that most successful entrepreneurs and high achievers seem to have mastered. It got me thinking this morning.
As usual, it is 3:21 a.m. I am up, partly to catch up on Morocco beating Scotland as underdogs, partly hoping Brazil’s Samba moves come back to life soon. But mostly, I am up to building the dream.
Tonight, what keeps me up is not insomnia. It is belief.
I just got up a few minutes ago and could not fall back asleep. Something has been pulling at me strongly all week, beyond the late nights and early mornings — belief, and the will to succeed with Afrifama.
This week, I accomplished things that even I am still reeling from. I am genuinely amazed at what the human mind and belief can do. I am not here to talk about the accomplishments themselves, but about the sheer power of belief behind them. Of everything I have witnessed in this life, I think belief is the key.
Not just hard work. Not luck either. But that uncanny ability to see things that are not yet there, and still believe strongly, that they will be.
I believe this is what they meant when they said belief moves mountains.
On a personal note, this week I spent time with the Afrifama team — that young team I mentioned in my last article. We were on the field again, but not for mobilization this time. We were verifying and validating data from smallholder farmers.
This is a step closer to the dream I have carried in my heart for a very long time. I have run through this reality in my mind a thousand times before it actually began, and here we are, edging closer to it.
It is not an easy climb, truth be told. But belief, hard work, and the backing of the right people have made it easier. There have been nights coming home very late when I questioned my resolve to follow through on this dream.
As usual, I do not want to digress. I need to get back to work, a few more lines of code, a few more pushes to GitHub, and voila, your wannabe developer reporting for duty. I am genuinely excited right now. I almost believe I am Elon-esque wired. Save for the fact that I am not building rockets or electric cars.
Would you believe it, ladies and gentlemen, that this village guy has it in him to build not just a website, but an actual MVP for a farmers’ platform?
A real, running, not-bug-riddled platform, with as close to zero code and syntax errors as I can manage.
I am building this alongside my personal site, using Codex, coding every night and early morning like right now. And yes, it is possible. With belief, dreams are no longer just dreams.
With a few pushes of a button, the right mindset, and proper flow, you can build things our ancestors would shake their heads at, the same way they must have when they first heard about the moon landing. They probably thought Neil Armstrong and his team were crazy. That is what technology, the right tools, and the right process can do.
Have you utilised them yourself? What are you building? I would love to know.
I am tired of building login dashboards and writing in between, so now I need to go for a run, refresh, and head to the fields. I cannot wait to meet the real MVPs again today, the farmers.
